The missus has seen a light fitting she wants for the dining room, and wants to be able to use a dimmer. The problem is it is a low voltage 5x20w halogen capsule fitting with transformer.

My question is can I use an intelligent dimmer on any transformered unit, or do I have to check compatibility with the specific transformer in the fitting?

only certain transformers can be dimmed, see what it says on the box.

if not you can alway replace it with a dimable transformer

couldn't see anything specific about whether the transformer was dimmable. what should I look for?

Don't really want to spend money on the fitting, then have to spend more on a new transformer

as obvious as it sounds it says "with dimable transformer" i was looking at some lights the other dayy som said it some didn't

It is a fairly recent thing to supply a low voltage light with dimable transformer, so most don't
