Dishwasher fill and stops

I have a slimline built in dishwasher which is around two years old.

The unit will fill and run for about 10 minutes and then stop. I suspected the outlet pump was faulty? I have tested across the terminals and there is a continuous circuit. I have not been adding salt to the washer regularly. The washer will fill and then stop ...maybe waiting for the heater which does not work so it just sits there doing nothing. If I empty manually the machine will again fill and stop. The water does not get warm. There is a tank next theo where the salt should be added with what seems a thick fluid does this sound familiar? Am I in need isf a new heater, please?

Thanks

Steve

Sorry, I completely forgot!

Matsui MF145/A. Slimline built in.

It fills and circulates water for 5 mins but it cold then stops.

Matsui = "made in China" :(
Are you saying it rinses for 5mins then stops without draining?
If so I would check for: a blocked filter, sink spigot, waste hose, or pump.
Note that the first part of any cycle is a cold rinse.
