DIY sunlight into house via roof

Hi,

My house is a little dark. I'm thinking of getting free sun light into the middle of my house via the staircase ceiling board. I know there is a commercial service but its really expensive (4 digit). DIY is possible?

Would really appreciate the professional opnion if its actually doable. The following is only from my thoughts. Never done before!!

Material required

- transparent roof tiles from Monier
- aluminum duct hose [connect from under the roof tiles to the ceiling board]
- transparent ceiling board or glass ??

Proposed steps

- replace conventional with transparent roof tiles
- connect hose to transparent tiles [how to secure?]
- replace ceiling board with glass [is there a better material?? Lighter ??]
- connect the other end of the hose to the glass

Voila !! rclxms.gif The sun shines right through into the staircase area thus illuminating both upstairs and downstairs !!

Can anyone help me improvenon a) material, b) proposed steps?
