Hello,

I have a few posts going on at the moment regarding my Decking project sorry,

I have removed my old flags and I will be covering the area (soil & hardcore) with decking, the deck will be butted up so no sunlight will be getting underneath. Do I need to fit a weed cover? If I do I have been given a roll of clear plastic visqueen will this do?

Thanks. :D

yes you do. plastic is a no no. doesnt drain and it can rot the wood by trapping water. use plantex

Cheers mate,

just looked online for the stuff, looks like 1 roll we do me.

Would you lay it directly on the soil or pin it to the joists?

:D

we build the frame and then staple it over the joists. That way you get no invasive weeds such as bindweed etc getting over the top of the ground covering. also stops anything getting dropped between the boards.

right, so the fabric sits between the joists and the actual decking boards? :D
