I've just installed a softener with high flow hoses as I've got an unvented cylinder. The softener is rated to 5 bar so I installed a PRV to protect it set at 4 bar. The PRV (a Comap 22mm) seems to really restrict the flow so I have 2 questions.
Is it really necessary to have one, will the pressure rise enough overnight to damage the softener or is it just the manufacturer covering themselves?
If it is required can anyone recommend a large bore one. The Comap has 22mm fittings but has a bore of about 10mm inside.
I get around 3.5 bar working pressure at the minute and it rises to 4 bar with the taps off.
