I've got an Elvox 801 door entry handset, but the buzzer has died.
Given that it's a five wire system, would I be right in thinking that I can simply replace it with a new Bell 801 handset? That seems to be the most commonly available one.

Just about any 5 wire can be swapped. With the Bell you might find the ringer is too loud a 500 ohm resistor in series with the ringer will drop the volume a tad.
