Hi,
I am looking to put a door from our upstairs bedroom through a 1 1/2 - 2 foot thick granite wall. The wall seperates the bedroom from our loft space.

I will be getting in a builder as I won't dream of tackling a job like this.

How difficult will it be for the builders to remove the granite and put in the door.

Would I need planning permission for this?

Thanks

cheers mate, not sure about the explosives.

Seriously how difficult will it be for them to open up the wall

to cut through two feet of granite would require the services of a specialist masonry cutting service.

alternatively, you could remove a large section of the wall, in wholesale units and then re-build the opening in a more user friendly material, tying the new masonry to existing.
