Door hook or limiter (Ed.)

Hi all,

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. (new to this.) I recently had a new front door fixed to our house. Because of the small porch that we have the door opens outwards. Would anyone recommend a hook or chain I could attach to stop it from fully opening i.e. if it gets caught by wind, I don't want it hitting the wall or coming off its hinges.

Or a cabin hook.

Is it a plastic door?

Or a friction stay

Or a rubber door buffer on the wall, to meet the top and bottom of the door to prevent impact damage (I would fit these anyway)

A bristle doormat will also slow the door, if it is padded underneath so it starts to rub on the bottom of the door as it reaches the end of its travel.
