Hi,

Would appreciate some advice.

I have a double socket in my shed which originally had a white plastic casing and white plastic socket facia/front.

The casing and front was damaged when the lawnmover fell on it and i have replaced with a new metal / steel casing and white plastic front.

I have ran the earth wire into the black earth point on the socket facia/front.

Is this correct? Or should i also run an additional earth wire from the earth socket to the metal casing?

Thanks in advance, Derek.

Yes, correct.

Although not actually a requirement if the screw makes good contact with the back-box in a fixed lug but it is considered good practice and will be safer.

Why on earth go for a metalclad box and still use a plastic socket?

Please don't say you've put one of these on the wall....
