My downstairs lights keep tripping the 6amp fuse in fuse box. It is a radial circuit. I have replaced the fuse but it trips again straight away. Any ideas ??
First - Have you or anyone made any recent changes to the lighting circuit?
1) With MCB/breaker OFF.
2) remove all bulbs from all lamps on entire circuit.
3) Switch MCB/breaker ON.
If that has not cleared the fault
1) With MCB/Breaker OFF
2) Unscrew all ceiling roses on the circuit, look for poor connections, shorts, blackened wires.
3) Unscrew all switch plates, look for poor connections, shorts, blackened wires.
Do you have access to any form of MultiMeter? If so then there is a faster and more scientific method of finding the fault.
