I am sure this has been asked many times, but cant find this on a search. I have downlights installed pretty much all over the top floor of my house thus into the loft. Insulation is layed with gaps where the downlights are. Just looking at possibilities, but IF I wanted to board out my loft how would I stand as far as the downlights go? Is it safe? Allowed? I reckonmg there would be about 1" - 1.5" gap between the bottom of the floorboard and the top of the downlighter once installed.

Many thanks

Don't worry.

You'll soon be replacing all your downlights anyway... as soon as the fashion police tell your missus that, along with laminate flooring, over-sized tellies, chrome accessories, block paving and decking, they must follow fondue sets, crazy paving, stone cladding and fake beams, to the big Style graveyard in the sky. (Where they will join the anti-macassars, sets of flying ducks, murals and big stone chimney breasts...)

Life is cruel when you follow the herd! :D
