I am looking to do abit a spring work outside. One job is , a metal downpipe has a bit of a split round one of the joints what would I need to repair ? The rest of it is in good condition just this so I don't want to replace it.
By a split do you mean in the pipe itself or just the joint between the two pipes and when you say metal are we talking cast iron?
If it's just the joint either don't worry about it or simply reputty and paint.
If the pipe itself is split or broken then replacment may be the best option but given that you don't want to go down that route you could try something as simple as car body filler and repaint.
