downstairs toilet

hi i want to put a down stairs toilet in my house but i have been told i need a extractor fan which is a problem because where i want to put the loo there is no outside walls is there a way i can get away without the extractor or what are my options

Yes building regs stipulate that you must have ventilation (even if they didn't I would still want to include it)

My downstairs loo is in a similar position. I have installed a shower type extractor fan that is located in the void between the Loo ceiling and upstairs floor. A flexible duct then travels along the same void over the utility room to an outside wall. Remember to include a small ceiling hatch to access the fan for repair/maintenance though.

Stub stack, connection the drains, drain/waste runs, basin requirement, part p for electrics, local water bye-laws

Your fan will require a 15 minute over-run

The fan in a toilet must have an extraction rate of at least - 6 l/sec (22 m3/Hr) and most are well in excess of this. As Woody states If the room does not contain opening windows, a 15 minute timer overrun is required.

The wiring will need to be to current standards and incorporate a switch that isolates all three poles (live, switched live, and neutral) to allow maintenance of the fan.

Regarding Part P, you wouldn't need to inform your local LABC and have them inspect the wiring, as a toilet is not listed as a special location (unlike a bathroom, kitchen or outdoors)
