Installing an indpendent kitchen fan (not extractor) - independent of kitchen light.

1. Can I choose either to use a DP FCU off the ring or lighting circuit?

2. No other form of isolation required?

Ok. That is an extractor fan but that doesn't affect the answers.

It will be easier in the loft to use the lighting circuit. You MAY be able to feed another cable (or a three-core and earth instead) down to the existing switch position if there is a conduit.

In this case you don't really need to use a FCU but the Manufacturer's instructions may require it (the reason for which is debatable).

Search the site for best way to fit the ducting.
