We are having a new external door plus frame fitted into an existing opening in our cellar later this week. The opening currently has an externally fitted sliding timber door and the opening has the cavity closed by facing bricks around where the new door will go so no cavity closer needed.

So my question is do I need the installer to fit a DPC around the frame?

Thanks. Will be done this week I hope as it is getting draughty and cold in the cellar where I am running all the UFH pipes.

I'll get some DPC so the chippy has no excuses!

I can not see the point of fitting a dpc around the frame.

A dpc should have been fitted between the internal and external leaves of masonry prior to being closed off. Yes/no?

If it was a pvc door i would go around it with expanding foam which is air tight, waterproof & secures the door in place, I don't see why you can't do the same with a timber door.
