I removed the top of a valve in as the valve was sticking and preventing the water from flowing through the radiator. However, I find that I am unable to replace the top half of the valve as the screw thread does not seem to be bedding down into the main body of the valve. What am I doing incorrectly?

Make sure that the sensing head is on Max and if required, press down while screwing the knurled nut down clockwise.
