Drill Battery

we have 3 dewalt 18v drills and 9 batteries, most of which need replacing but buying the genuine replacement looks expensive, has anyone purchased a 'compatible' battery (un branded) and are there any good suppliers?

Alternatively where could I buy the cells to replace the dead ones?

Can't say I've ever brought a non genuine battery so can't help there but here's an idea-

assuming your talking nicads keep your eyes open i got 2 nmh fully genuine dewalt and compatable with the nicads 2.6ah for £45 each plus postage

just make sure your chargers mention they can charge nicad and nmh

If you are competent enough to strip and rebuild the battery, most tagged nicads are available from RS components, Rapid Electronics etc. I used to rebuild my PMR (walky talky) batteries and they are as new.

did you check your chargers take nmh batteries

Yeah we have the ones which do both

because your batteries where quite old they will be down to around 25 to 30% capacity in the last year and months so at around half an amp capacity by comparason the 2.6ah will last 5 times longer
