Earthing Back Box

Surely you would isolate circuit before removing face plate:cool:

As Adam has said you're right. But if I had a £1 for every face plate that has been removed live I would be posting from my own Island in the Seychelles ;)

I saw a safety bulletin once, about a galvanised back-box and plated screws which had got damp and corroded where they met, losing the electrical connection. The cable had got damaged or chafed, and the backbox became live. There was a live area (due to the damp) on the wall around the backbox with a PD to the faceplate fixing screws which were still earthed.

This was given as an example to support the view that flyleads should be used. Pretty rare I would have thought.

SO John, do YOU use flying lead or not?
Do Most sparks use them, or go with - if one side is fixed its ok???
