Hi, hoping for some advice…

We have an economy 7 system that heats the water off peak. The water heater is ‘on’ for 7 hours but we don’t need it on that long. Is it possible to replace the wall switch to the economy 7 immersion with a digital timer switch? I realise the there is no power to the switch during on peak hours so am wondering what type of timer switch I could use? I’ve been looking at the switch below. Would this work?

Turning it off, during the E7 hours, if your cylinder is well insulated and has a stat fitted - will make like or no difference to your consumption, so it would be pointless. If you want a system able to turn the supply off during the E7 hours, then you will need to add a separate supply just for the clock/timer, which is on all the time.

Usually the questions associated with E7 and immersion heaters, is how to arrange it to give the water a boost, during peak hours.
