EGR Problem

Hi all,
I hope you can help with a problem that I've just had.
I've had problems with the EGR on my 51 plate Scenic 1.9dci. It's been cleaned twice with good results. The car now doesn't run after loosing power over 400 miles or so on way home from hols. Anyway, it was recovered by AA from France and I've just removed it. It is basically a shaft with 2 valves(discs) on it. My question is- Is the valve on the end meant to come off? I'm not taking the mick, it's just that I can push it back on and all seems well!

Not sure about renault, but most manufacturers do a blanking plate so you can just remove the thing and cover the hole!

i dont think its supposed to just pull off or it could find its way into the intake

I bought and fitted a new EGR today. It was only £100 and it works fine. So problem solved. Thanks for the input.
