Electric Ceiling Radiant Heating

Hi

My son is looking at a property to buy, property was built about 18yrs ago, which has electric ceiling radiant heating. Each room has its own thermostat.

Never heard of such thing. Anyone have any experience of such a beast. How well will it heat the house and most importantly how expensive to run.

I have seen these only recently. There are electric mats that look like foil sheets running between the joists. At first I thought how ineffecient they must be seeing as heat rises, but the customers seem to be happy with the performance and electric bill. It also meant they couldnt have inset downlights either. I was meaning to look into a bit more myself but never got round to it.
