Hello All,
I have just bought a new ceramic hob and elec. fan oven and have a question about how to connect it to the existing cables. At present there are two thick cables (possibly 10mm thick)coming down from a cooker switch (less than 2 meters away from the cooker). The overall power of the hob is 6200. In the installation guide says to connect the hob to the electrical system by means of a junction box: 'if the appliance is connected permanently to the mains, an omnipolar circuit breaker, accessible if necessary with a minimum contact opening of 3 mm should be installed. ' What does the part in quotation marks mean?
Also the elec fan oven I've bought to replace the old one has a 13 amp plug on it - can I attach a socket to the other thick white cable and plug the oven into that?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Liz
