electric light wiring!!!

hi,

have a strange one!!! I am replacing a light in one of my bedrooms, however instead of the usual 3 sets of wires it has four!!!

It will switch on and off fine and is all working, however the rest of the usptairs light switch on and of with the same switch!?!?

Can anyone give me some advice on this?

Have you got a multimeter?

you have connected the "rest of the lights" to the switched live not the permanent live

use your meter to find out

Thanks, worked that out and multimater found me the live. all working fine now.
