(Electrician's) Tools of choice

The 1000v pliers etc have bigger plain orange handles

As regards pozi and Phillips the very first thing I teach any trainee is how to spot the difference. I go mad if someone uses the wrong driver as it

a, eff's the screwdriver
b, eff's the screw
c, eff's me off!!

These are great drivers but the problem is that the handles are so good the force can break or ruin the tip-so be careful and use the right one. Although I did break my Phillips and CEF didn't bat an eye and swapped it straight out ;)

Cheers

had a look in the Bacho brochure and the ERGO design that you have doesnt mention that they are 1000V!! they look the part though. Will i be ok with these?

Yes, just don't cut cables carrying up to 1000v

When it comes to snips and cutters i now only ever buy Knipex. Most of the stuff i have to cut at work is stainless steel, either securing/locking wire, or split-pins, Knipex snips do split-pins like a knife through butter.

Most of the electrical Cu/Al wires that i deal with at work are really very lightweight usually about 20 -24 swg and so most snips work.

I bought a pair of Knipex cable shears the other day after struggling with side cutters , escpecially with the slightly heaveir stuff used in the average house ( upto about 25mm), they are my current favorite tool, £18 well spent, :).

Knipex only ever used to make Pliers & cutters, when a company is that specialised they usually know their onions...

Yes. I forget exactly what, but I think it was either a junction box or a chock block. Some kind of grub screw where the hole was too narrow to get a bigger driver in.
