Hi all bright sparks

I need advice as to "How". I anticipate having separate electrics for my two room extension. I need ring mains upstairs and downstairs with 3 double sockets in each room. Then lighting.

Would it possible to fit a consumer box in my extension and feed sockets and lighting from it. What size cable would I need to power the new consumer box from existing consumer box some 6 meters away.

Local electrical supplier suggested I need a breaker and 16mm square cable to feed the new consumer box. Isn't cable bit heavy. Thanks in advance.

It is possible to have two separate CUs. You would need a Henleys JB so instead of having one set of tails, you would have two sets, one to each CU. The extra tails would be the same size as your existing ones, unless they need upgrading to 25mm (if they are 16mm).

Note: This work is notifiable to your LABC(local authority building control).

you should be able to extend existing lighting and power circuits, dont forget rcd ground floor circuits.
