I want to drop the supply and returns for the radiators in my new extension behind the dot and dab to keep the rooms looking neat.

Is something like this suitable for protecting the pipes from corrosion?:

In a dry environment, like studding walls, its not necessary to protect them at all.

Gas pipes ned special precautions though.

Cheers - my situation is plasterboard on dabs, bonded to 3.5N lightweight blocks . Do I even need to avoid the bonding dabs getting anywhere close?

I may buy/fit some of it anyway, to stop too much heat disappearing in to the wrong side of the plasterboard.

Dry plaster has no effect on copper.

Lightweight block is a goode insulator anyway.

Keep your money for insulating where it does most good like lofts and underfloors.

You might have trouble dropping a pipe behing dot and dab, unlikely you will have no dot where you want the pipe.

My intention was to make a shallow chase - say 10mm max, then dot and dab as normal. Are you implying that the wet 'dot' would corrode the pipes?
