Inherited one of these. Have (on the advice given here) replaced the battery and relocated a few sensors.

The alarm has, what I think, are panic buttons? One by the front door, one in my kid's room.

Pressing it immediately sets the alarm off. Turning the plastic red key didnt do anything - had to enter the code of the panel to deactivate it.

Is this a panic button?
Should the key do anything?

Can I remove it? By remove it - I assume I put panel in installer mode, remove 12v feed, remove cable for panic buttons, reconnect 12v and reassemble?

Or is it more complex? Will the panel expect the panic buttons to be "present" and misbehave?

Thanks again for the advice. Priceless!

Key just resets the magnet in the the button ...just disconnect it at the panel and put a wire link the zone in the panel ...there is no power to this device ..
