I have a built in gas hob and would like to exchange it for an electric Ceramic hob, my question would be is the Gas hob cut out in the work top bigger then the electric (which would mean new work top needed) or should they be the same? Sorry prob stupid question but none of the resellers seem to be able to help.

THere used to be 2 standard sizes, dont know about now.
Why not measure the cut you have & then look at the cutout required for the new hob. THere are 2 sizes available at least

As this is a forum regarding electrical matters, the question that you should be asking yourself is:

"is the supply that I plan to use to power the new all electric ceramic hob large enough."
