We'll shortly be battening and counterbattening out our timber frame walls to receive a rendered finish. There are two types of metal lathing, one is just a diamond mesh (what I'd refer to as simply 'Expamet'), the other is ribbed ('Riblath'). In galvanised form anyway, the riblath is twice the price! Is it twice as good?
Galvanised is listed as being ok in an external environment in certain situations only. Our building is single storey, in a town, inland, sheltered by fences on two sides - will this be ok for galvanised? Stainless versions of these lathing meshes would cost us a four-figure sum of money
One more question - traditional cementitious render or modern 'throughcoloured' polymer/acrylic/resin type thing?
Jeff
