When extending a ring main by extending the cable, what is the best method? Is it to put in a JB, but that means accessability problems if come loose. Or is crimping then heat shrinking under the boards a better method? Should the crimped connections be inside some type of box?

I know best method is to replace cable back to sockets, but with laminate and tiles its a bit difficult.

Crimp (with proper ratchet crimpers) wins hands down! heatshring it and then you have 2 layers of insulation so it doesnt need a box and it counts as a permiment joint so can be forgotton about.

junction boxes are poo.
