Hello all.. have lurked here for a while, most helpful with my first DIY baby-steps, but can't find the answer to this one. Perhaps the answer is too obvious to ask..?

I'll be having a crack (boom boom) at dealing with the exteriors or all my victorian sash windows this summer, repairing, painting etc.

Seems Toutpret Murex is the stuff to use on the cills themselves.. but what should I use on the reveals? Some are better than others (just cracking to the existing stuff which might need filling or reinforcing) but others are worse with what was there originally having fallen away in places.

What's the best thing to use?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Post some photos.

If you are filling over rotten timber you need to use a wood hardener or you are wasting your time.

It will be much easier to advise you if you post a few photos up first though

Thanks for the response.. as it happens I asked a bloke working on windows down the road just now and he says to just use the Murex, no problem.

I didn't explain very well but I'm doing:

Repairs to the wood (which I've done before, so know where I'm at with those)

Repairs to the stone cill (using the Murex)

Repairs to the reveals (the rendered exterior brickwork, sides and top arched part which are inset into wall). I think they're called 'reveals' anyway..? Apparently Murex fine for those too.

Will post pictures with next question, when I have one!
