No.

But you should bond the incoming water pipes back to the main earth terminal, just like the water and gas mains.

Hi again :D

What do yo mean by incoming water pipes? the boiler is a mains water fed combi and in the house there is already has a green and yellow wire to the main water.

the plumber has put an earth wire to the oil supply although this is external,, is it needed?

is earthing required on the central heating pipes from the boiler into the house

thanks

I would say yes, (assuming they are copper), as they are extraneous-conductive-parts.

Thanks for the reply

As the oil supp ly does not enter the house and stops at the boiler does this require an earth and if not should the ch pipes use the earth thats on the oil or join both together
if you catch my drift!!!

No.

They should be bonded just as if they were incoming water or gas mains, like in this drawing:

If the boiler is external to the house and has an electrical supply then it must be outside the equipotential zone. Then any metal pipes (oil supply and water) would need to be bonded.

Now the question is - which side of the firesafe does the bonding connection on the oil pipe need to be?
