Can anyone advise what type of extractor fan I should buy?

I have a kitchen extractor fan in the ceiling which has a breaker switch high on the wall and a remote switch near the kitchen worktop. I bought a 2 wire fan, however this can only be operated on/off from the breaker switch (very annoying as I have to stand on a chair everytime to switch it on)

I installed a timer fan (2 wire) for the bathroom which operates perfectly (similar set up with breaker switch)...however I don't want to buy this fan for the kitchen because I want the fan to off when I switch it off!

Can anyone advise?

Thanks... :)

what wiring do you have at the kitchen fan location?

I am pretty sure it is a 3 wire connection.
Same as the bathroom...

This remote switch, is it an on/off/on unit? Was the old fan two-speed?

It's a single speed fan
The remote switch is built into the wall. It looks like a light switch.
The breaker switch is similar looks like a light switch

setup like this:

Ceiling Fan------>Breaker switch------->remote switch

just tell us what cables you have, how many cores they have and what is connected to them.

sorry don't know off hand as I installed them ages ago and am now looking to replace the kitchen fan.

I will check when I am at home and post a reply..

thanks
