Not sure if this should be in building, electrical or plumbing so I'll try electircs!

I'm in the process of building a small down stairs loo. It will contain only a toilet and a sink. There is no window so do I need an extractor fan? I.e. is it law?

Many thanks,

Chris

I think you need to read through the Approved Document F of the building regulations. The regulations are “law” and the document is downloadable from the internet. Without looking though it myself I suspect that for a new building, yes the room would require extraction. However, I’m not sure what the requirements are for an alteration to an existing building but I do suspect they are the same.

Personally, whether extraction is a requirement or not I would strongly advise it. Simply because of the location and that there are no opening windows in the room!
