Do you think an extractor is really a needed in a kitchen where the cooker sits beneath an open chimney?

If so does anyone know of any slimline extractors that I might be able to fit in?

Many thanks

What stops the rain coming down the chimney onto the cooker?

We've got a top on the chimney pot and some metal work in the chimney so bits don't fall down.

If you try doing a smoke test & the chimney has a good draw & no downdraft, then I would think you may not need an extractor.
