I discovered mould in the F&E tank.
Armed with gloves and a face mask (the mould smells quite bad) I bailed out and mopped up the crud.
Wiped the inside of the tank with neat bleach, dried up the bleach before adding a 500ml bottle of Fernox AF10 and 500ml of Fernox MB1 then topped up with water, I decided to put on a new float.
Fernox AF10 smells just like Jeyes disinfectant, I wonder how similar they are?
The concentration of AF10 in the tank must be very high, Fernox advise a 0.1% concentration so I will drain off a litre from the CH filter to bring some of it down in to the F&E pipe. I do the 1 litre drain from the filter once a year anyway (which is how I discovered the mess in the first place).
I bought a lid for the tank but it doesn't quite fit so I'll have to return it and make one from marine ply-board painted with gloss.
