Faced bricks - weathering

hi,
We are having an extension built and I think I have found a suitable matching red brick. However, the builders merchant says they are yellow bricks with a red face which will weather and leave the yellow showing. Unfortunately he can't say how long they would last before the red face weathers off. Can anyone out there suggest how long this might be. The red face is about 2mm depth.

The merchant is talking crap though. If a face wears off a brick, then the brick is useless. Bricks don't fade to different colours.

They do get dirty though.
