i've tried oiling it but still on occasion refuses to let me open the boot. the button to the latch is electronic, can anyone tell me how i can test if it's the latch or the button is at fault as the components are bloody expensive.
You can 'tease' the lock by having the tail gate open, but flicking the latch shut with a screwdriver, if you see what I mean - and this way may allow you to experiment with the thing.
There might be a plunger on the boot latch itself, thats operated when the tail gate closes - so bear this in mind.
One side of the latch failing is that it occasionally doesn't hold the tail gate closed......it just bounces back open.
The locks fail more often than the switches!
