Finally getting around to fixing my garage roof while it's dry (?).
The roof is fairly recent 3 layer felt apart from a gash about 2 feet long where a concrete parapet slab was dropped and went partly through. The roof itself slopes slightly (about 6 inches over 10 feet) and the top felt is the usual heavy green gritted stuff, all torch-on.
My question is whether I will be OK just torching on a large patch of top coat over the hole. I'm a bit concerned that the pitch won't melt enough to get a good seal through the grit on the existing felt and let water slowly get in underneath it all.
