Hi all,

I repleced a fence post on Saturday and a couple of panels.

I checked how it was last night and there is a fair bit of wobble, its a wooden post ahttp://www.wickes.co.uk/fence-post-100mmx100x27m/invt/548025/

I put a couple of feet under the ground level and used a dry mix with gravel. Since Saturday theres been a bit of rain and that has collected around the post which I guess unsettled things.

Any ideas on the nbest way to remedy? I have some postcrete and thought about digging a hole around the post and putting that in around it?

Cheers

Cheers, my thought was to leave some of the new mix in and just get a hole around the post and infill, would that be wise?

is the post loose in the concrete, or the concrete loose in the ground?

Looks like the post is loose in the concrete, but to be honest I need to investigate a bit further as I looked last night and it was dark and there was a bit of wter ofter all the rain.

Make sure you tamp the concrete down well around the post to compact it. Use the end of a piece of scrap timber.

If the surrounding earth is loose then you may well need to go deeper if it still doesn't set properly.

Cheers, I did Tamp but think all the rain either loosened that or the earth around it, need to check. Make things worse with having really clay ground

if the post is loose in the concrete, I expect wind moved it around before the concrete was set. The first 24 hours are most important.
