Few decking question

I am looking at starting my decking in the next couple of weeks so just wanted to ask a few grey areas. The sixe to be decked is 28 ft x 10 ft.

I was looking at setting 75mm x 75mm post holders in concrete then use these to build the base. Any thoughts ?

On a span this large how far would you spread them ?

It is a soiled area where I am decking then grass after decking will I need to put gravel or anything under decking ?

Every 1.2m apart and use 100mm x 100mm. Landscaping fabric with pea shingle on top of the grass.

What price should I look at paying for a 100mm x 100mm post holder ?

I can get the 75 mm x 75mm here for £5.94.

All the 100mm semm to be between £13 - £20, is this about right ?

Don't use Met posts, dig a hole 18" then place 2 hands full of gravel in the bottom, place post on top, fill hole up to half way with water, fill the rest with post mix, tamper down (poke with a stick) and level.

build a proper patio instead. Decking eh, you'll only be ripping it up in a few years, once it falls out of fashion and everyone comes to realise what a tacky tasteless atrocity it is...like artexed ceilings or mock tudor facades.

I built a raised deck 12 years ago approx 6m x 5m which held 37 people when we had a party.

Don't live there any more but it is still going strong.

I am building this straight off the house is there any issues that can arise with damp, just read somewhere yesterday vaguely that you should do something first like screw a piece of timber too the house ?
