filling condensate traps

hi guys. i was at a job with one of the guys fromm our firm doing service. ecotc 824. i noticed the trap wasnt hughely full so i poured some water down the flue to fill it ( prevent possible flue gases from escaping). anyway this chap said hed never seen that done before ( 5 years experience). was i did ott doing that? went on valliant course and thats waht trainers advised,!

All condensate traps should be filled correctly before the boiler is finally left for a customers use. Worcester boilers have a built in program to fill the trap,most other boilers require more crude methods of filling them. Just running the boiler will eventually fill the trap.
 
I suppose you could urinate into the flue, if you had a ladder, but best to switch the boiler off first...!

Why pour it down the flue?

All you have to do is remove the condensate trap under the boiler and fill it from a tap.

Only a 1 minute job ;)
