We have a slight gap between the skirting board and the wall in places where the walls aren't quite exactly level. Is it possible to fill this with caulk without having to re-paint the skirting boards, etc? Any tips on how to do it well?
I always use white, flexible (but not silicone) sealant, applied from a gun. It's a very simple matter to squeeze it into the gaps and then just run your finger along to smooth it out. Any excess can be immediately removed with a damp cloth. You can paint over this if you wish but provided your skirting boards are also white - or whitish - it isn't necessary.
