I have reboarded my bathroom ceiling and now the joints are ready to be filled and taped. BUT!.. I went to close to one joint with a screw (to secure board to joist) and it broke under the board paper. I cut that section out with a stanley knife. About the diameter of a golf ball.

What would be the best filler to fill this section in before I continue? Appreciate any advice please

If you are using easifill, I would mix a little bit up (make it stiff) fill the hole in then apply two or three strips of joint tape over it, beat use the self adhesive, nylon reinforced stuff and flatten it down.
You could use browning, bonding etc. instead of easifil though.
