My LABC bloke has said that the inside of the new stairwell, and where the new room interfaces with the attic space should be covered with fireproof wallboard. The alternative is 2 layers of 12.5mm plasterboard. I'd rather put up one layer and so I'll opt for the fire proof board.

Any ideas where I can get fireproof wallboard ? He said "it's the pink stuff".

I have searched on line, but can't really find anything that looks like what he is describing.

I've just found gyproc "fireline". Is that the stuff I need ?

You can find the pink stuff, i.e. fireproof wallboard in any large B & Q, i.e. b&Q warehouse. I only know this because we bought iot by accident! It's a bit more expensive than standard plasterboard, says fireproof on it, and is backed with pink rather than off-white paper.
