Hi

I am going to fit an external security light with PIR. Am I ok to insert a junction box in the cable that runs to the shaver socket in my bathroom and run a spur from that onto my outside light?

The shaver socket itself must be on the upstairs lighting circuit as if I turn off the upstairs lights from the fuse box, the shaver socket does not have power.

Thank you in advance

yup
A standard 5A JB should do the trick from the cable that feeds the shaver. Try to ensure a direct connection out of the property into the security light as you don't want to leave any bare cable exposed. Drill all holes slightly downwards for cable feeds and make sure you fill holes with silicone or an alternative to prevent backflow of water into property.

Thank you.

Just another quick question, what size cable do I need?

seeing that you are not coming off the ring, 1.5mm will suffice.
