hi, Im having this problem too, (the lights not turning off), except that I'm trying to get the halogen spotlight fitted in a bedroom.

I tried to find the problem in the reference sticky, but i could not find anything, can anyone help???

IF it does help, this is my situation;

my original light had 2 sets of wires, but the spot light only needs one. It supplied a block to route the wires through, but my original lampt had a ceiling rose like this -

, but on the diagram the spotlights came with, it shows that i should use the 'block'.
-when i tried to fit it with the first set, the light wouldn't turn off,
-when i tried the 2nd set, they wouldn't turn on.

connect the wires exactly as pictured there, to a junction box, prefereably above the light in the ceiling, then run a small piece of cable to the light.

Do you still have the ceiling rose? if so, go in the loft, connect it as before, and run the 1mm flex through the hole to the new light.
