fitting new double glased window

Hi all
i have a window on the landing, which is double glased and cracked.
i have just ordered a new double glased window with an opener to replace the old one. it looks pretty easy to fit, but would like some info please.
is there any special way of removing the old silicone sealant from around the frame on the ouside of the house, or is it just get the scraper out and get it off that way.
also what sealant do i go for when fitting the new frame.

Remove the sealant with a blunt tool all round the window, push the dg unit back slighty then undo the glazing bar on the other side to take the window out.
