Hi,

I am about to have my guest room plastered. I removed all the old plaster but ther is a crack in the internal wall which I want to deal with before hand. Te crack goes down along the mortar line for about 1 mt and I have been told to remove the old lime based mortar along this line and fill it up with mortar. After this, I have been recomended to screw down a metallic mash covering the crack to avoid cracks in the new plaster. I could not find big bits of metallic mash in B&Q or others but just strips of about 5 inches wide. Is it ok to screw down into the bricks a few strips of metallic mash until I cover the crack? Is there anything else I should do?
