...so how do I get a cooker spur from the CU?

Is it permissable to route (depth???) horizontally along the wall below ceiling height the 7 meters or so from the CU then drop, with appropriate conduit/trunking?

FYI the the flat roof joists run the 'wrong' way for an easy solution.

Sounds like it could be extraordinarily messy - but is it DIYable?

Keep the cable within 150mm of the ceiling and you are within the rules, then drop vertically to the switch.

If you skim through the 'For reference' thread at the top of the Electrics UK Forum you will find all the information you need. On Page 2 there is a post which links to lots of useful topics and you should check out the rules for buried cable.

But it's worth pointing out that if the cable is visible, or in visible conduit or trunking you can route it wherever it suits you, aesthetics and comon sense permitting of course. You could run 6 sq mm cable in 25mm x 16mm self-adhesive mini-trunking and have the job done in no time at all!

Why not surface mount it at ceiling level and then fit plaster coving to hide it?
